I Adore You-Valentine’s Day Edition

February 19, 2019

We haven’t been on a date since my birthday last August 2018 and while that may seem like forever and a day to many, this is just our reality. I was so excited for this night that I went out and got a new dress, applied some make-up and well, my hair was already done… Read More I Adore You-Valentine’s Day Edition

Though She Be Little, She Is Fierce

February 12, 2019

First things first, Charlotte may look like daddy but she shares a fierce persona with her mama. Charlotte is only 18 months old, and yet, she has already shown to us from a few months old who she is likely to grow into and I am already a very proud mama. When I was in… Read More Though She Be Little, She Is Fierce

18 Months in Charlotte’s Hair

February 5, 2019

I have a deep love for hair – specifically, black women’s natural hair. This love started at a very early age and the obsession has yet to die down. I remember one year when I celebrated my 25th birthday with close friends, I looked around the table and every single woman there was a natural… Read More 18 Months in Charlotte’s Hair

Guess who told me that they have to go to school? Guess who told me that they have to go to school? 🥺 I mean, we have a couple of more months to go but the process has officially begun. There are so many feelings that come with this new chapter in life. I am beyond ecstatic for our eldest to start school but at the same time, it confirms for me that time really stops for no one.

Even though some days I just wanted to hide in the bathroom to take my zoom meets in solitude, I found my groove quickly and now, we have to make a change to our schedule again. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I’m gonna miss my munchkins while I’m away at work but alas, I’ll be extremely happy to see them at the end of every workday. Parents, how are we feeling about the kiddos returning to in-class learning?
Today in #minifashion is COLD WEATHER ESSENTIALS. Today in #minifashion is COLD WEATHER ESSENTIALS. I have a standard when it comes to dressing for cold weather and it is simply this — to be warm and cozy no matter how low the temperature drops. This is a rule of thumb that I keep in mind for the girls as well. Being cold makes me uncomfortable and miserable so I do my best to be prepared for the cold weather at all times! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Here are some of my cold weather must-haves —⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1- neck warmer (a warm hug for the neck) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2- warm toque that covers their ears comfortably ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3- waterproof gloves (Charlo loves to touch snow) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
4- stockings (I always layer them) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
5- facial cocoa butter mixture (moisturized skin FTW)
Galentines and/or Valentine’s💕 — how are yo Galentines and/or Valentine’s💕 — how are you celebrating this year?! This year, I’m doing both! I plan to do brunch of some sorts for the girls with treats, special breakfast and arts and crafts. Stay tuned to see if I can actually pull it off! If anything, they’ll just be more than happy to see these heart balloons make an appearance again!

Hi #marriagemonday — this week we have Valentine Hi #marriagemonday — this week we have Valentine’s Day on our radars. For some, this is a cheesy and annoying holiday but for others like myself, it’s a fun and cute holiday to do a little more for your special love one. We haven’t solidified our COVID-19 style Valentine’s Day yet, but I look forward to my forever Valentine asking me to be his Valentine again 😊️ SWIPE to see who accompanied us on our 2019 Valentine’s Day celebration.

What is everyone up to for Valentine’s Day?

This week‘s devotional thought is based upon the This week‘s devotional thought is based upon the the devotional called ‘7 Attitudes to Enjoy Life’. I’m not finished reading it but allow me to share some of what I’ve learned so far — seem wisdom, number your days, make the best use of your time.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I have been blessed to do life with my little crew. With them, I want to encompass all of the attitudes necessary to ENJOY life. Everyday isn’t sunshine and rainbows with a pot of gold at the end but, I wouldn’t want to have it any other way. Life is short, let’s make sure that we are doing more to enjoy every little bit of it, including finding pockets of joy on the hard days🤍
One of the ways that I make sure to keep all of th One of the ways that I make sure to keep all of the girls’ meals nutritionally-enriched, is to start their day with a fruit. By creating this routine, they now look forward to having some kind of fruit at breakfast time. Often times, I incorporate another fruit during snack time in the afternoon. There is no secret trick to getting the girls to eat healthy foods because it’s really all they know. There’s hardly any junk food in our kitchen because I don’t buy it to begin with. Healthy snack options can be fun too! Now, I’m not saying that they never have sweet treats but it’s very far and few in between.

When it comes down to fruits and water (okay, let me be honest, food in general) my littles don’t play games. I think I’ll do another post on some snack ideas soon😉
Today was the exact opposite of yesterday — yest Today was the exact opposite of yesterday — yesterday, it took everything within me not to go back into bed and ignore the world. It felt like my brain was in a fog and I was riddled with frustration from the beginning to the end of the day. Today was better. I laughed more, I felt like I made more of a positive impact, I took time to pour into myself a little bit more and I slowed down where possible. Even though everyday may not feel like a win, it is still a blessing.

ALSO, do not underestimate the power of a good night’s sleep my friends. It’s a game changer - I promise you.
HAPPY BLACK HISTORY MONTH✊🏼✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿!!!!! It’s the healthy Black Love for me ! And mind you healthy’ in this context doesn’t mean void of flaws and imperfections. However, what it DOES mean is we are intentional with how we love.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Our love languages have changed over time and it’s only natural that it did but, we still try our best to operate in the ways in which we communicate with one another. If you haven’t already gotten your hands on Gary Chapman’s Five Love Languages — go! Words of affirmation, quality time, physical touch, acts of service, and gifts — which one is yours?
Throwback to being pregnant and becoming a new mom Throwback to being pregnant and becoming a new mom outside of a pandemic (SWIPE) that reality seems like a lifetime ago now. Sighs.

To all of my pregnant, new mamas and mamas alike — I’m holding space for you and reminding you that your feelings - all of it - are valid. So, here is a reminder just in case you needed one—You are strong, beautiful, resilient and truly a blessing to that sweet babe of yours. Lean into your tribe. Speak up about how support looks like for you. And last, but not least, chin up beautiful mama, you are so loved, adored, and in this safe space, I’m cheering you on every step of the way. // PC: @jbsmith 💓
During my work from home status, one of the things During my work from home status, one of the things that is my saving grace is our routine. Our youngest sweet girl takes a nap for 2hrs and during that time, I set Charlo up with educational activities — from colouring to puzzles, reading books and as of yesterday, practicing writing — basically, a break from screen time. And no, I don’t put out ALL those activities at once.

I would like for everything to flow in nice and neat boxes but it’s not always possible. I find it easier for me to break up the day in chunks and do what I can. Practicing grace for oneself is easier said than done esp if you’re like me.

Today was a win — despite this little one saying “NONONONONONOOOOO”, better believe nap time still happened and she was in lala land in about 15 minutes✌🏾oh and, we all slept well last night so .... WIN WIN WIIIINNNNNNN!
I used to refer to myself as a shopaholic — I fo I used to refer to myself as a shopaholic — I found that it was easier for me to think clearly and process whenever I was in the mall. Even better when I got to make a couple of purchases. Mind you, I’ve never bought a big ticket item, but purchases were made nonetheless. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When you choose to do the inner work, you will find that the dependency you may have on materialistic things no longer feed your soul. You’ll find yourself craving something more nourishing, fulfilling, and long-lasting. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So truth moment — I miss the mall and my casual strolls through the stores a couple of times a week. But, I no longer crave things the way that I used to in an attempt to fill a void. This pandemic has taught us all many things I’m sure. For me, it has reinforced the importance of getting down to the heart of the matter and building a strong foundation. Anyways, I say all of that to say, don’t be afraid of doing the work now. Your future self will thank-you for it |PC: @sundaykindoflove

“Many of us lack direction because we are pursui “Many of us lack direction because we are pursuing a purpose that is inconsistent with who God is and what He has created us to be...” — today’s devotional from Spiritual Purpose by Tony Evans. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Have you ever felt like you weren’t walking in your purpose? Or, have you ever wondered what your purpose is on this earth? While I haven’t been a complete wanderer (my personality time wouldn’t let me be even if I wanted to be), up until recently, I knew that I wasn’t truly walking in my purpose. As I landed a longterm job opportunity, and let go of what was comfortable, I started to feel a shift in my mindset, attitude, and my faith. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So, here’s to walking confidently, with direction and a clear purpose that is consistent with who God is and who He has created me to be🤍
